The Best of Russia 2014 Photography Competition Winners

A quirky photo of an elephant in the room, Northern lights in Komi Republic and Altai version of the world famous rodeo – these are some of the winning entries in the “Best of Russia 2014” photography competition, which was open to amateur and professional photographers across the country. The only condition for entry was that photos must have been taken in Russia during 2014.

Gamsutl ghost village is an ancient abandoned Avarian settlement in Dagestan, the North Caucasus. The village carved in rock on top of a mountain at 4600 feet altitude can hardly be noticed these days. Abduljalil is the only inhabitant of these fabulous fairy tale ruins.
