Twitch.tv is the leading game streaming website. The main feature of the website is video game streaming. Recently, typical Russian girl Karina Sycheva, aka Sharishaxd gained huge popularity. She is from the city of Belgorod, and in a short period she became a celebrity of the Russian audience of Twitch.tv. She has more than 120K subscribers on her channel and the number of subscribers continues to grow. She manages to pull 15k viewers even before the stream starts. Her popularity is directly related to her unusual behavior while streaming. You can see it for yourself.

How does she manage to get so many viewers? Many viewers find her from the social media. Her YouTube channel has almost 90K subscribers. Her VKontakte is followed by whopping 152K people. Her Instagram account has 24K followers. Besides, she is often mentioned on the anonymous image boards websites, such as 2chan. Prominent Russian Youtuber Enjoykin recently uploaded a music video dedicated to her.

Her insane behavior, good looks and extensive use of profanity attract hundreds of thousands. This is a phenomena and, apparently, it pays off very well. Some of her YouTube videos reach 800k views. She has signed up with a YouTube partner program. There is no word on how much she is making from YouTube videos, but she sure makes enough money from her streams. Reportedly, she’s getting donations of at least $0,4 every 10 seconds, which makes in average about $140 an hour. According to other sources, she makes anywhere from $400 to $2K a month just on donations, not counting the revenue from YouTube ads. According to TJournal, she received $11K in donations last month. It’s not bad, considering that her job is to act like she is playing games and to let her potty mouth run wild.

Being hysterical pays off. What you see in the video is a bot that says how much she is getting donated. She thought that she’d received 50K rubles in donations, but instead she’d got 15 rubles. And she reacts.

Correspondingly, her audience includes Russian teenagers and many come from the anonymous image boards, so their comments are adequate to her streams. Here are a couple screencasts of the commentary on her channel.

She figured out that people on the internet enjoy hate speech and call each other names, so why not make money of it? So, she acts dumb, gets mean messages and donations flow. She acts like a target for the trolls. And she does that like an aspiring actress. It’s a business and there is a neverending supply of fools.
