Lukomorye wooden sculpture park is a result of the international contest. The park is located in Savvateevka village, Irkutsk region. Initially, the festival supposed to create a recreational zone along the river, on a way to the road to the unique mineral springs. Now, the festival is promoting a revival of Russian woodcarving tradition and development of an art of a landscape sculpture, in Angarsk area. The contest allows the exchange of an experience of master carvers and educates and develops an artistic taste in children.
Today, characters of Pushkin’s fairy tales, Russian folk tales and ancient mythology are emerging from the trees and create amazing wooden sculptures in Lukomorye park. There, visitors can meet herdsman’s playing patron, Titan Prometheus and nymph Calypso among other characters. Besides magical creatures, the park is a home for wooden sculptures of animals and giant insects. Giant centipede, scorpion, tarantulas, stag beetle, scarab beetles, wasps, ants, crickets, dragonflies, butterflies, and other representatives of invertebrates, can be seen all over the park.
