Spring is the cheerful time of the year in Russia. It brings sunshine and warmth. However, spring has a dark side too. While the snow melts, it uncovers filthy sidewalks covered with garbage, puddles and mud. Sidewalks bring new challenges to pedestrians, because streets become virtually impassable.
Russian photo blogger Ilya Varlamov recently visited the city of Ufa, where he captured the “worst side of the city”. “After a short walk around the city I found out that not only my shoes were dirty, but also jeans became brown covered with mud. This left me under the impression that I was not in the major Russian city, but rather was working in a cowshed. Typically, many Russian cities are muddy and wet during the spring season, but Ufa is something special,” Ilya said.
