On one of the buildings in the downtown of Yaroslavl, an interesting memorial plaque was installed.
The inscription reads: “A great Russian scientist, the inventor of the time machine Garin Petr Petrovich lived and worked in this building, from 2143 to 2157.”
Petr Petrovich Garin is the main character of Alexei Tolstoy’s sci-fi novel “The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin”.
Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy, nicknamed the Comrade Count, was a Russian and Soviet writer who wrote in many genres but specialized in science fiction and historical novels. One of his famous work is “Aelita” novel.
In May 1939, Alexey Tolstoy visited Yaroslavl, for the premiere of the play “Peter the First”.
