Soviet Posters in Friends

Why there are so many Soviet posters in “Friends”?

There is one in Chandler-Joey’s apartment that depicts Kangaroo-boxer.

Also, there were several Soviet posters from the 1980 Summer Olympics above Monica’s bed.

And there is the Soviet propaganda poster in Ross’ apartment that reads:

“In order to build, you need to know. In order to know, you need to study.”

No-one knows, expect the Friends sitcom director, why there are so many Soviet posters in the tv show. We may only speculate.  Website stackexchange.com has shed some light on it.

When it came to Monica’s apartment, Grande wanted to develop “a whole new kind of eclectic taste with a flea-market, whimsical, and anything-goes style.”
